When high school prom queen Marcia (Reese Whitherspoon) butts heads with her rival, Martha, she is sent on a journey of self-discovery and growth. It's tough, but she has help from her friends at the school like Portia and Mr. Paul. Meanwhile, romance blossoms as she realizes that she has feeling for her step-brother, David (Paul Rudd). It's a lot to deal with, but she's totally clueless on how to start!
